Position Summary: Under the direction of the Purchasing Director, this person is responsible for assuring the adherence by suppliers to design, quality, delivery, reporting, and packaging specifications per division and corporate requirements. Specific Responsibilities: •Supervises, guides, directs, and supports SQEs. Evaluates/determines department resource allocation, including recommendations to management. Champions conflict resolution. •Supplier Approval: Reviews supplier documentation (Incl. - Supplier Profile, Quality System Self-Survey, Quality/Environmental Certifications). Approves supplier if all documentation meets requirements, or makes recommendations (Incl. – Audit). Conducts audit of facility, as required. •·Ongoing supplier assessment/recommendations regarding status (Incl. - Quality & Support). •Design Review Process: Participates in (IPDR) Internal Part Design Review. Participates in (PDR) Part Design Review; conveying PPAP and Quality requirements to the supplier for signature. Participates in (TDR) Tool Design Review, as required. Champions tool transfer process (Incl. – PPAP requirements). Champions PPAP requirements for component revision. •PPAP (Champion): Upon receiving PPAP, reviews documentation for accuracy. Requests inspection data, as needed. Reviews data/documentation with Team (Production, Engineering, Purchasing). Upon (PPV) Production Part Validation approval, signs (PSW) Part Submission Warrant, and notifies supplier. •Deviation: Communications, enters, and obtains disposition of supplier requested deviations for component parts. •Deviation: Communications, enters, and obtains disposition of supplier requested deviations for component parts. •Supplier Rating System: Maintains Supplier Ratings System. Produces regular Supplier Rating Reports. Issues Supplier Probation Notification, as required. •Supplier Quality Monitoring/Communication: Issue minutes/actions items from supplier quality meetings. Participate in visits/phone conferences with suppliers. Makes recommendation to visit/audit supplier. Issue visit/audit report upon return. •Continuous Improvement: Ongoing assessment of SQA department activities and functions, to identify improvement opportunities. •Certified Quality Engineer with strong PC skills (Microsoft Office, Word and Excel and Access). Expert knowledge of various problem solving techniques (i.e. paretos, cause and effect, histograms, etc.). Familiarity with the implementation of use of various charts, corrective action programs, simple DOE, and other SPC tools. Quality engineering or manufacturing engineering experience in an automated mass production environment. Knowledge of plating, plastic molding, metal stamping and/or welding desired. Some knowledge of soldering, electronic components and PCB assembly. Strong hands on experience driving TS16949 initiatives. This individual must have expertise with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures within the field, be able to work independently, and use extensive experience and judgment to plan, persuade suppliers, and accomplish goals. Ability to effectively manage time and resources. The individual must: 1) Have a strong attention to detail and be a strong problem solver; 2) Be customer focused and possess strong communication skills. Drive for excellence, being highly organized, resourceful with their time and resources as well as being highly efficient and effective. Job requires up to 15% domestic travel; and extensive communication with domestic / international suppliers. Automotive industry experience would be preferred Electronics experience would be ideal
