GENERAL SUMMARY: The Materials Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Operations. The Materials Manager will be responsible for all aspects of purchasing and inventory consistent with current company policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Materials Manager is responsible for all procurement and control of vendor purchasing activities within the guidelines of Company Policy and Procedure. Specifically, any chemical and reengineered material will require significant technical reporting; prompt handling of vendor material, complaints and MSDS; accurate and timely testing and evaluation of material; and maintaining the liaison relationships with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, Quality Engineers and the Manufacturing Engineers. Responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of the Companies physical inventory and perpetual inventory system on the BPCS system. Reporting directly with the GM/Plant Managers and working with the IT and Accounting teams to manage and maintain accurate and timely records, providing timely analysis to resolve issues quickly. Responsible for the supervision, control, coordination and proper processing of all direct reports and process responsibilities. Applying your technical planning knowledge (APIC Certification preferred) to streamlining the supply chain, managing all Material Resource Planning (MRP), assisting the Operations Manager with demand and capacity management of all purchasing requirements and assuring that your team complies with these established standards. Responsible for advising and making recommendation to Operations Manager and communication with Manufacturing Engineers regarding material and equipment/press compatibility. Includes, but is not limited to, calculating material usage rates and all associated variances, scrap rates, standard labor and etc. You will be statistically supporting implementation and evaluation of new chemical and reengineered raw material, applying technical assessment to Six Sigma studies and ongoing manufacturing systems projects that directly impact production. Responsible for advising and making recommendations to the Vice President of Operations regarding departmental functions, procedures, policies, and systems within the scope of the Purchasing & Material Control activity. Monitors and provides guidance to the purchasing agent in the procuring of subcontracted of subcontracted b business. Reviews PRF, RFQ and ERC submissions for proper purchasing disposition. Planning with the Environmental Engineer any shipping, storage and auditing requirements to adequately anticipate additional costs, risks or concerns. Supervises physical inventory and proper data entry of physical count information; quantities and part numbers. Monitors and schedules company monthly cycle count program. Assures proper classification of all perpetual inventory adjustments. Manages all inventory levels to achieve specified goals and delivery schedule objectives per customer requirements. Report to Operations Manager and participate with Engineers in and ensuring compliance with APQP, ISO and PPAP requirements per operating procedures. Performance Standards will be set by the Operations Manager to ensure the timely availability of sufficient raw materials to support all production runs. Translate customer demand into efficient production schedules. Publish overtime schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels and build rates. Monitors and provides guidance to Production Scheduler in development of scheduling reports. SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Responsible for staffing and training of subordinate personnel. Reviews purchase orders for proper authorization and account coding and quality specifications. Performs audits of vendors per the Supplier Evaluation Team guidelines. Maintain SET guidelines and results Prepares and assures proper company compliance and reporting with all external and governmental reporting requirements, (NAFTA, etc) Prepare and monitor vendor pricing indexes. Review all vendor requests for price increases and summarize for management review. Reviews activities of material and inventory control analyst ensuring proper recording of inventory transactions. Reconciles monthly perpetual inventory and general ledger inventory balances. Monitors and reviews all company inventory at remote sites (warehouses or outside processors). Ensures proper controls in the shipping and receiving areas. EDUCATIONAL & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Pre Hire Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience with a minimum of 10 years overall experience. Demonstrated technical ability to solve practical problems with Engineering Teams. Manufacturing, Inventory, Purchasing, and fully integrated system experience required. APIC Education preferred. Basic understanding of chemical make up of raw materials Working knowledge of MS Office Products.
